(18kb pdf) If you are interested in having your child participate in the 4-H Dog Project based at the Mango Recreation
Center for the 2006-2007 4-H year beginning in September, feel free to contact Sally Alford for more information
via e-mail at: horsepny@tampabay.rr.com In dog training starting with Obedience first is always a good idea. Obedience classes teach your dog basic
control- which is the foundation for all the other classes. While teaching your dog Obedience is an ongoing process
(there are many levels to advance through)- you need a good foundation before you can go on to try other venues such
as Agility and Rally. In fact we do not allow beginning 4-H'ers to start Agility- until they have a very good start in Obedience. During our 4-H year Ileana is generous enough to allow our 4-H group train on her property, so you will see her name
listed on our class schedule. While Ileana herself is instructing some of her other classes (on another portion of her
property) during our classes, we greatly appreciate being able to use her facility. During our year, 4-H instructors teach the kids classes in Obedience, Agility, Rally and Showmanship. The kids have
the option of putting the skills they learn to use in competing in 4-H Dog Shows throughout the year. We also offer
several seminars and clinics for kids during the year. If your child has seen any dog shows (either in person or on
t.v.) and that is of any interest to them- 4-H can help them accomplish those goals. We are happy to tell you- there is no charge for our 4-H dog training
classes. We only ask a couple things of the parents and 4-H member. First, that
you come with a 'positive attitude'- willing to learn, second that at least one
parent and the 4-H member enroll in 4-H and sign up under the 4-H insurance
program (the cost is one dollar for each person- for the 4-H year), and that
parents volunteer to work at our 4-H Shows throughout the year. If this sounds like something you and your child would be interested in- feel free to contact me with any additional questions. Sincerely, Added
9/29/06 Each year, members of the Hillsborough County 4-H Program who are interested in participating in the 4-H Horse
Project must complete a Horse Qualification Form to register their project horse for the new 4-H year. The horse
that is registered is the horse that the 4-H member will participate with in 4-H horse shows and with their record book.
The Horse Qualification Form must be completed and returned to the Hillsborough County 4-H office no later than
December 31, 2006. Horse Qualification Form
(181kb pdf) In addition to the Horse Qualification Form, Hillsborough County 4-H has a Horse Program Membership Agreement
for those members interested in being eligible for the Area E 4-H Horse Show in the spring. The Area E Horse Show
gives members an opportunity to participate in a multi-county show and possibly earn the chance to compete in the
State 4-H Horse Show and later the Southern Region 4-H Horse Show. The Horse Program Membership Agreement must be
completed and returned to the 4-H office no later than November 1, 2006. Horse Program Membership Agreement (143kb pdf)
